The number, and why there isn't one
Mindtrip is free. There is no price on the website, no in-app purchase on the App Store listing, and no premium tier to compare against. Everything the product does, the AI itineraries, the collaboration, the Start Anywhere import, the booking, costs nothing.
That makes this a short pricing page with one useful job: explaining what free means here, and what it does not.
Disclosure: we build Plotline, a competing travel app with a paid tier. That is a bias worth naming on a page about someone else's lack of one.
What free includes
All of it, as far as the product goes today:
- Chat and quiz-based itinerary generation with photos, maps and reviews
- Editable, mapped plans you revise by conversation
- Start Anywhere: convert a TikTok, Instagram post, YouTube link, screenshot or Google Maps list into an itinerary or collection
- Collections for saving places
- Group planning with live collaboration
- An events feed for your destination and dates
- Booking for hotels, flights, restaurants and experiences through Priceline, Viator and other partners
- Trip document and receipt storage
No caps we could find on trips, collaborators or itinerary length. It runs on the web and iOS.
The premium tier that may or may not exist
One third-party tool directory lists a Mindtrip premium plan at $6.99 a month billed annually. We could not find that price on Mindtrip's own site, in its App Store in-app purchases, or in its help material, and we would not plan a budget around a number only a directory has seen. Either it is a legacy plan, a regional test, or simply wrong. If a paid tier appears, it will show up in Apple's listing, which is the source we check.
How a free AI planner pays for itself
Nothing on Mindtrip's site says how it makes money. The reasonable inference, given the booking partners, is commission on what you book through it. That is a normal, legitimate model: the same one that funds most travel search.
It is worth understanding for one reason. A planner funded by bookings has a structural reason to recommend bookable things: hotels over friends' spare rooms, ticketed experiences over free viewpoints, restaurants that take reservations over the taqueria with a queue. That does not make the recommendations bad. It makes them a particular kind of good.

Mindtrip is the only planner in this table with no paid tier at all, and Layla is the only one that paywalls the plan itself.
What free actually costs
Not money. Two other things.
Specificity. A prompt-based planner gives everyone who types the same prompt roughly the same trip. The forty places you saved from creators you trust are not in it, because Mindtrip has never seen them. Start Anywhere narrows that for one post at a time; it does not build your map.
Portability. Your itineraries live in Mindtrip's platform. Export options are limited, and a free product has no contract with you about how long that platform stays as it is. Normal for the category, worth knowing.
Where Plotline fits
We charge for the thing Mindtrip gives away, and we do a different thing. Plotline does not propose a trip from nothing. It takes the places you have already saved from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, keeps the creator's tip on each pin, and routes them into day-by-day plans. The free tier includes the full map, saves with a daily cap, and your first trip plan. Premiere lifts the caps at a flat $9.99 a month or $49.99 a year.
If you have no saves, Mindtrip's free plan is the right first stop and we would not argue otherwise. If you have a folder of them, a free plan that ignores it is not free in the way that matters.
The bottom line
Mindtrip costs nothing and hides nothing about that, which is more than some competitors manage. Use it freely for a trip you are starting from scratch. Just know what a free planner is optimizing for, and where your saved places are not.
