What the free tier is actually for
It is not a trial. The part of Plotline most people use every day, turning saved posts into a map you can filter and actually navigate, is free and stays free. You can build a map of hundreds of places, organize it into Collections, share those Collections with friends, and never pay anything.
Premiere exists for the planning end: repeat trips, planning them with other people, and the spontaneous day plans. Your first trip plan is free so you can see what the generated itinerary looks like before deciding whether that part is worth paying for.
A note on prices
The figures above are United States pricing. Apple sets the equivalent in every other App Store region, so the price shown on the paywall in the app is the one that applies to you. Subscriptions are billed through Apple and can be cancelled any time in your iPhone subscription settings.

Do my friends need Premiere to plan a trip with me?
No. Only the person who creates the trip needs Premiere beyond their first plan. Anyone invited can join, add stops, edit the itinerary, and use the shared notes on the free app. Shared Collections are free for everyone as well.
Is there a free trial?
Trial availability is shown on the paywall inside the app, since it depends on your App Store region and whether you have subscribed before. The free tier has no time limit, so you can use Plotline for as long as you like without subscribing.
