Map Your Voyage: where it falls short

• Instagram only, for now. The DM workflow and location extraction run on Instagram. • The free plan caps Instagram DMs at 30 a month. Casual use fits comfortably; a heavy saver, or anyone clearing out a weekend of scrolling in one sitting, hits the ceiling and has to upgrade to keep going.
• No native app. Map Your Voyage runs as a website plus an Instagram inbox. We searched the iOS App Store and Google Play directly and found no listing for it on either. That keeps the install barrier low, but it also means no offline access, no home-screen presence, and no app store review history to check before you hand it your trip.
• Onboarding friction has been raised publicly. Plotline: where it falls short

• The DM path covers Reels only. The same limitation Map Your Voyage has, for the same reason: Instagram does not pass along a link when you share a carousel or slideshow, so there is nothing for either app to read from a DM. Reels work, including cross-posts carrying a TikTok or YouTube link. For a carousel, use the iOS share sheet from inside Instagram instead, which does pass the link through, and Plotline reads it the same way it reads everything else shared to it.
